His footsteps ringing
In my ears,
Strong and persistent,
I flee from him
In the whispers of
The dark deep nights,
In the songs of
Clear, bright days,
Behind the mists,
Up in the unknown hills,
Down narrow winding paths
Of forgotten years,
Beside the raging sea
Of unshed tears,
Far in the colourful valleys
Of gay echoing laughter,
Through innocent childhood
To the lonely age of wrinkles,
On the wings of hovering death
With the sounds of throbbing life,
He follows me everywhere.
He, who gave me life,
And the will to live
With joy and love.
I know I shall surrender to him
Someday,
Not just yet.
